Release into the Wild

Brother King has released 616 turtles into the wild.

So far 60% of the infants adopted by the sanctuary have been successfully raised to become 2.5 years strong juvaniles.
The basins in which the turtles live are flushed every day with fresh seawater. The Atlantic Ocean is only a few feet away. Brother King thinks the turtles can hear the sea because they often swim to that side of their basins. By his observations his turtles adapt the wild quickly due to innate feeding skills that they have. They do not need to be taught by their sanctuary keepers how to survive in the wild because their mothers abandon them naturally at infancy anyway.
"I am not a scientist. I don't have a certificate that shows I am qualified to save turtles. I grew up in the ocean, for I am a diver. Bequia is my home. All I am trying to do is give endangered turtles a higher survival chance by releasing them into the wild when they are strong enough to avoid predators. (Brother King, Founder of the OldHegg Turtle Sanctuary, February 2003)"
