We found a picturesque little bay, called Nonsuch Bay, on the eastern windward side of Antigua. We were on our way to Barbuda, but were captured by the little white beaches, coral reef patches, and rolling hillsides of this place. Glad to be double anchored behind Green Island, because of the active recent squall activity, we take our dingy to shore, 50 meters away. From there we have the entire bay downwind of us, which has given Flo and me the opportunity to practice with our most recent acquisition, a kite surfer. For years we have been impressed with the water and aerial acrobatics of the sport, and having taken some lessons in Martinique, we bought a used kite surfboard, harness, and 11.5 square meter kite with lines and steering bar. When we are better we'll put some pictures in the web, but until then we will need our privacy to practice. We've already had many terrific runs, but spend much of our time under water and upside down.

A note about Green Island, the real reason why we originally stopped here. It is unspoiled by buildings. There is abundant bird life, including red-billed tropicbirds, white crowned pigeons, ospreys, night herons, and pelicans, of which we have only seen a beautiful pelican glide past our mast this morning, with a rainbow in the background, of course. We missed the bird, but have great photos of the rainbow and the Wildlife catamaran. Soon to be published on our website, as soon as we can get to an Internet cafe.
